Touring a Bright & Charming 1900s Dutch Home

Touring a Bright & Charming 1900s Dutch Home

Name: Inge (@Ingeroosxx

Location: Ede, Netherlands is a small town in the center of Holland, built partially in the Hoge Veluwe National Park. It was initially an industrial town, now it has become a popular city for tourists that are camping and vacationing in the National Park.

Tell us about your home.

My house was built in 1900, in the old city center near the forest. It was originally a small house built for the local factory workers. We have totally rebuilt it and made it an ideal place for my three kids to grow up in.

How long have you lived there?

I've lived here for 26 years and the house and garden have undergone many metamorphoses over those years.

Describe your décor style.

Although I regularly change my interior, I have a constant and personal style. I have a preference for natural and raw materials, like concrete, wood, cotton, wool, and linen. In terms of color, I also choose natural shades. Black, grey, white, and all shades of brown are my favorite colors. However, recently I've painted the wall behind my sofa in a metallic gold color, which gives it a very warm effect.

Where do you get your deco inspiration?

I get my inspiration from traveling (I love the mediterranean style), magazines, and of course social media such as Pinterest and Instagram.

What is your favorite part of the house?

My favorite part of the house at this moment are the steel doors that we have installed this year. It gives so much light; it feels like indoors and outdoors are now merged into one. It gives a beautiful contrast to the old architecture of the house. I think it is also important to make room for personal items. For example, heirlooms and souvenirs from your travels. Mine are in an antique cupboard. This gives the interior a personal character.

What are the biggest challenges when designing your home?

The hardest part of styling the room are the many windows/doors. We have only one wall to place the couch.

What is your Tivoli Audio product of choice:?

My Tivoli Audio product of choice is the ORB wireless speaker because it blends perfectly with my interior.

Any tips for someone currently working on their home?

My tips for styling a room is to choose timeless furniture. That way you can always switch up the style with trendy accessories, like cushions and candles or a colorful wall paint. If you are tired of the accessories, you can easily change that.

What would we find playing on your Tivoli Audio ORB if we were to visit?

If you are come to visit me, you will mostly hear jazz, funk, or lounge music on my ORB.
